VH Tour Guide: Our Favourite Shopping Destinations in Fitzroy

Fitzroy - it is our favourite suburb in Melbourne and the reason we chose to open our store on Gertrude Street.

From coffee and art to fashion and food, Fitzroy has it all. If you are planning a trip to our store (or need some motivation), here is a list of all the shopping destinations to hit up along the way.

We're overjoyed to called Takeawei Ceramics our new neighbour! In fact, you can read an interview with the owner Chela Edmunds in our journal. Inspired by coastal living, these ceramics make for an excellent addition to your home decor or a beautiful gift for someone you love.

Third Drawer Down - 93 George St, Fitzroy

If your jam is artwork and oddities, the Third Drawer Down is for you. Chockablock full of over-sized novelty furnishings, tongue-in-cheek home decor and all manner of things to make you smile, we reckon you cannot spend a day in Fitzroy without dropping in to Third Drawer Down.

Aesop - 242 Gertrude St, Fitzroy

Known for their unique store fit-outs – each one being completely different to the next – Aesop Fitzroy is certainly one to spend some time in. Designed by Melbourne architect Clare Cousins, this Aesop store will leave you feeling nurtured and nourished, whether you're there for a browse or picking up something to pamper yourself with.

Mud Australia - 181 Gertrude St, Fitzroy

Head to Mud Australia if you're in the market for a sensory experience. This store is lined with stunning handmade porcelain homewares in a range of soft, tonal colours to suit any space.

Cottage Industry - 67 Gertrude St, Fitzroy

Stepping into Cottage Industry Store feels like stepping into a shop you may have found in Greta Gerwig's Little Women. It's a cosy clutter of everything you can dream of: from vintage Christmas ornaments to hand-knitted socks to brass spoons.

Northside Records - 236 Gertrude St, Fitzroy

For all things vinyl, you'd be remiss to overlook Northside Records. Bursting at the seams with records both new and old, this place is an abundance of sonic satisfaction.

Morning Market is your go-to for pantry and produce. They're well stocked with seasonal local produce, freshly baked bread and well cut flowers. Or simply stop by to grab a coffee and a sandwich on your way through.

While you're around, why not say hi? You can visit Variety Hour at 155 Gertrude St, Fitzroy from Wednesday-Sunday. If driving, there is plenty of parking on neighbouring Napier St, or you can catch the 86 tram from the city.
